Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province was recently rated as "excellent" in a provincial assessment for the promotion of household garbage sorting in 2022.

The evaluation was conducted by the Zhejiang Provincial Leading Group on Household Waste Classification.

The same rating was also conferred to its administrative areas – Jiaojiang district, the county-level city of Wenling and Huangyan district. Meanwhile, Tiantai county and the county-level city of Yuhuan were rated as "good", the second highest ranking.

In 2022, Taizhou was recognized as "notable" in promoting household sorting, the highest ranking in a national assessment.

In the second quarter of last year, the city climbed from ninth to sixth in the related ranking of 297 Chinese cities at prefecture-level by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

As of the end of September 2022, Taizhou's household trash decreased by 0.68 percent compared with the same period last year. All trash was treated in a harmless manner and nearly 60 percent was recycled, official statistics show.
