The gross domestic product (GDP) of Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province grew by 2.7 percent year-on-year to over 600 billion yuan ($86.2 billion) in 2022, according to a government report delivered by Mayor Wu Xiaodong at the third session of the sixth Taizhou Municipal People's Congress which opened on Feb 26.

The city's general public budget revenue saw a yearly uptick of 6.6 percent, according to the report.

The per capita disposable income of its urban residents rose to 70,737 yuan, while the figure for their rural counterparts climbed to 37,700 yuan, with the urban-rural income ratio narrowing to 1.88.

Last year, a total of 144,000 market entities were registered in Taizhou, bringing the total number of market entities in the city to more than 800,000.

Seven local companies went public last year, bringing the total number of listed companies in the city to 71, the report stated.

After reviewing the accomplishments achieved in 2022, Wu also unveiled the development goals for this year.

The report stated that Taizhou will strive to have its GDP, industrial added value, investment in fixed assets and retail sales of consumer goods grow by 6 percent, 6.5 percent, 9 percent and 5 percent respectively.

The city will also spare no efforts to keep the growth of its general public budget revenue, residents' income and economic output in sync with one another.
