Construction of the new terminal tower of Taizhou Airport in East China's Zhejiang province is in full swing.

The terminal's roof, which is inspired by the Mobius Ring, was recently erected. Constructing this part of the terminal is said to be as difficult as creating the dome of the Bird's Nest in Beijing.

The expansion of Taizhou Airport started in December 2019.

After completion, the airport will see a five-fold increase in size, making it capable of handling 4 million passengers annually.

A 2,500-meter-long and 44-meter-wide taxiway, a 35,000-square-meter terminal tower, 16 aircraft stands, and other supporting facilities, including an air traffic control building, will be added to the airport, according to the construction plan.

The airport will be positioned as a medium-sized international airport in the southeastern coast of Zhejiang province, according to the civil aviation development plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period recently released by the provincial government.
