Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province staged an event to promote its cuisine in Shanghai on Feb 13.

The promotional event, which was held in a Michelin-starred restaurant opened by a Taizhou native, was attended by officials, business leaders, journalists as well as writers from the two cities.

The event featured 10 signature dishes made with ingredients unique to Taizhou, including blue crabs from Sanmen county, big yellow croakers from Dachen Island and chicken from Xianju county.

Lin Meijun, vice president of the Shanghai Taizhou Chamber of Commerce and the owner of the restaurant, said that they will exclusively serve Taizhou cuisine and leverage the restaurant as a platform to promote local culture and tourism.

Taizhou has set the goal of developing itself into a globally influential city of gastronomy. Statistics show that Taizhou residents have opened 1,300 restaurants in Shanghai. In 2022, Taizhou was listed among the top 10 Chinese cities of gastronomy by online travel agent Ctrip.
