Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province has made significant progress in developing its optoelectronics industry in recent years.

The city, which is focusing its efforts on fields like the new display, laser, and intelligent photovoltaic industries, has established a complete industrial cluster. Taizhou's major enterprises, such as Zhejiang Crystal-Optech Co Ltd and Zhejiang Brilliant Optoelectronic Technology Co Ltd, have engaged in the optoelectronics industry.

Crystal-Optech, which is the one-of-a-kind company mass producing AR-HUD in China, is a worldwide supplier of optical solutions. Brilliant Optoelectronic has broken the technological monopoly of related foreign companies by building production lines for high-performance OLED materials on its own.

More than 20 optoelectronics projects, with a combined investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.47 billion), were launched in Taizhou in 2022.

Taizhou is currently home to the world's largest thin film optical components and coating film manufacturing bases.

The optoelectronics industry will play a critical role in advancing the transformation and upgrading of the city's pillar industries like the automobile, aerospace, and home automation industries, which will in turn greatly promote high-quality development, said a local official.

He added that Taizhou's fine chemicals and precision manufacturing industries have laid a good foundation for the upstream and downstream enterprises of the optoelectronics industry.

In addition, authorities have implemented a series of measures, including rolling out preferential policies, exploring new means of cultivating top professional talents, as well as strengthening cooperation between research institutes, colleges, and major enterprises, to bolster the development of the optoelectronics industry.
