Jietou town in Taizhou's Tiantai county was recently listed among the second group of national key towns for rural tourism, local media reported.

A total of 98 towns (townships) from across the nation made the list released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Development and Reform Commission.

Located in the western part of Tiantai county, Jietou town has a history of over 1,500 years and is known as the cradle of Hehe culture, which has unity and harmony at its core.

The town, which has an afforestation rate of 77.4 percent, boasts a number of national key scenic spots, including Hanshan Lake and Hanming Rock.

A 1,544-meter-long ancient street which is lined with 286 folk dwellings in the town has also been popular among visitors.

Tourism authorities have also recreated scenes from the patriotic Chinese blockbuster The Battle at Lake Changjin to attract visitors as several parts of the film were shot at Hanshan Lake.

Jointly directed by Chen Kaige, Hark Tsui and Dante Lam, the Battle at Lake Changjin is set during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953) and tells the story of Chinese People's Volunteers soldiers fighting bravely in freezing temperatures in a key campaign at Lake Changjin, or Chosin Reservoir.
