A railway connecting Taizhou's Jiaojiang district and Luqiqao district with the county-level city of Wenling was put into service on Dec 28.

The 52.4-kilometer railway line, which consists of 15 stations and has a maximum speed of 140km/h, starts from the Taizhou Railway Station and ends at Wenling South Railway Station.

The line, which is an important part of the city's rail transit network, will slash the travel time from Jiaojiang to Wenling to half an hour.

The first municipal railway project to adopt the public-private partnership (PPP) mode in China, the line has been included in the fourth batch of national PPP cooperation demonstration projects by the Ministry of Finance.
