Xianju Shenxian Oxygen Bar Town from Taizhou was recently given provincial recognition for its outstanding common prosperity efforts. 

The town made the 2022 list of model characteristic towns that boost common prosperity in Zhejiang released by the provincial development and reform commission.

Xianju Shenxian Oxygen Bar Town consists of 20 villages that span 3.8 square kilometers. It has been developing tourism based on its ecological environment and its proximity to Shenxianju Scenic Spot, a national 5A scenic spot.

In 2021, the town welcomed more than 7 million tourists and the daily occupancy rate of homestays in the region reached 82 percent. 

The booming tourism industry has significantly raised the incomes of residents. The per capita net income of residents in the town increased from 15,930 yuan ($2,275) in 2014 to 43,129 yuan in 2021, official data show. 

Earlier this year, Xianju Shenxian Oxygen Bar Town was also included in a provincial tourism campaign titled "Shining Pearls", which will see the town given priority in development.
