Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province has achieved outstanding results in improving the city's traffic conditions, according to local media reports.

The city was ranked sixth in China in terms of traffic conditions, according to a report on transportation in China's major cities in the third quarter of this year.

This is the 13th time that Taizhou has been ranked among the top 10 cities in China in this respect since 2019.

In addition, the satisfaction rate of local residents toward the city's public transportation status now stands at 97.4 percent, according to the report.

The local government has in the past decade made sustained efforts in easing traffic congestion.

For example, Taizhou has launched more than 1,300 new buses and built or renovated 855 bus stops. As of the end of 2021, the city had constructed over 2,800 rental stations for shared bikes, and nearly 35 million people had accessed the service, the second highest in Zhejiang.

During the 10-year period, Taizhou also built 68.67 kilometers of roads, 329.9 km of greenways, and 235,000 parking spots in urban areas.

A parking app that allows drivers to locate the nearest parking lot and pay parking fees has been launched in the city as well.
