East China's Zhejiang province recently announced that it will build 10,000 workshops in its 26 mountainous county-level areas in the following three years.

More companies in the province will be incentivized to build workshops in the rural areas of these places to create jobs for the surplus rural labor force and bolster the "common prosperity" drive, authorities said.

Taizhou, a city in Zhejiang, is considered a trailblazer in the establishment of such workshops. The city's Huangyan district is currently home to 156 workshops that have created jobs for 3,659 rural residents, including 343 low-income farmers.

These facilities have also generated an additional collective income of 1.83 million yuan ($261,428) for villages involved, official data show.

Mou Xianju, a resident from Dongbian village, Maoshe township, said the workshop has enabled her to earn 300 to 400 yuan a day while taking care of her family.
