The Huangyan Economic Development Zone and the Linhai Economic Development Zone from Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province were recently included in a provincial pilot program for the integrated development of advanced manufacturing and modern service sectors.

The Huangyan Economic Development Zone is a provincial-level economic development zone featuring businesses that produce goods such as molds, plastic products and pharmaceutical chemicals.

Measuring 78.15 square kilometers, the zone is currently home to 452 above-designated-size companies, including 97 with an annual output value of more than 100 million yuan ($14.29 million). The zone is also home to three emerging industries – smart manufacturing, health and new energy materials.

Founded in 1992, the Linhai Economic Development Zone was upgraded into a provincial level one in 1993. It features three characteristic industries - fashion, automobile and building materials - as well as emerging industries including modern medicine, intelligent manufacturing, high-end equipment and modern logistics.

On top of the two economic development zones, four companies - Zhejiang Jiuzhou Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, Zhejiang Yotrio Group Co Ltd, Zhejiang Hulong Technology Co Ltd, and Zhejiang Xianju Pharmaceutical Co Ltd – from Taizhou were also included in the program.
