Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province was recently ranked 34th on the 2022 list of the top 100 advanced manufacturing cities in China, according to a report.

Shenzhen topped the list, followed by Suzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Qingdao, Changsha, Chengdu and Wuhan.

The ranking was made by CCID Consulting, a firm affiliated with a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The firm evaluated the advanced manufacturing sector of 293 prefecture-level cities nationwide from the perspectives of innovation capacity, integrated development, economic strength, and brand quality.

In 2021, the industrial enterprises above designated size in the top 100 cities on the list generated nearly 19 trillion yuan ($2.71 trillion) in added value, accounting for more than 60 percent of the nation's total.

A national manufacturing hub, Taizhou currently has 21 industry clusters with an annual output value of 10 billion yuan. The city is home to 68 national industrial bases that have the largest shares in their niche markets at home and abroad, official statistics show.

From 2012 to 2021, the number of listed companies in Taizhou increased from 23 to 66, the fourth largest among prefecture-level cities nationwide.

The city has been focused on developing sectors such as automobiles, biomedicine, as well as pumps and motors, while blazing new trails in emerging industries like aerospace, new materials, and new energy.

Taizhou's industrial output value increased from 128.92 billion yuan in 2012 to 216.23 billion yuan in 2021, and the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size had surged from 70.52 billion yuan to 145.39 billion yuan over the past decade.
