The automobile industry in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province achieved anti-recession growth in May despite the adverse impacts caused by the COVID-19 resurgence in the nation.

More than 6,000 new cars were delivered in Taizhou in May, a positive growth when compared with the same period last year, official statistics show. Experts have predicted that the growth rate will surpass 10 percent this month, seeing how all major auto makers in the city have resumed operations.

Measures taken by authorities to help these companies tide over the crisis have played a big part in the growth.

Among the companies to benefit from these measures is Zhejiang Dingli Tianyi Auto Parts Stock Co Ltd, a company specializing in the R&D, manufacturing and sales of auto parts. Its clients include Geely, BYD and Ford.

Due to the government's introduction of a policy that allowed companies to apply for travel permits at any time of the day, Zhejiang Dingli Tianyi Auto Parts Stock was able to circumvent the travel ban which prevented raw materials from being transported from Shanghai to its factory in Taizhou. The policy also allowed the company to ship it products out of the city.

Shen Biqiong, an official at the Linhai bureau of economy and informatization, said that the company's output value soared by 118 percent year-on-year in May after its supply chain problems were solved.
