Online retail sales up 10.1% in Q1

Online retail sales in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province rose 10.1 percent year-on-year to 23.72 billion yuan ($3.65 billion) in the first quarter of the year, official data showed.

Residents' online consumption reached 18.88 billion yuan during the three-month period, up 7 percent year-on-year, with the growth rate being the highest in Zhejiang.

The online retail sales and online consumption in Taizhou in the January to March period has seen positive growth for three years in a row.

In terms of geographical distribution, Tiantai county, Jiaojiang district, and the county-level city of Wenling took the top three spots in terms of online retail sales over the three-month period in Taizhou.

Tiantai's online retail sales were valued at over 5.13 billion yuan, while Jiaojiang and Wenling generated about 3.83 billion yuan and 3.75 billion yuan respectively.

In addition, the county-level city of Yuhuan, Sanmen county and the county-level city of Linhai had the highest quarter-on-quarter growth in this regard.

Yuhuan's online retail sales surged 55.6 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2021, with the growth rate ranking among the top five in Zhejiang.
