Taizhou's GDP up 8.3% in 2021

Taizhou's gross domestic product (GDP) totaled 578.619 billion yuan ($89 billion) in 2021, rising 8.2 percent year-on-year, official statistics show.

The added value of the city's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached 30.394 billion yuan, 254.301 billion yuan, and 293.924 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 2 percent, 9.3 percent, and 8.1 percent respectively.

The added value of industrial enterprises above the designated size in Taizhou increased 12.4 percent year-on-year to 145.39 billion yuan in the past year.

Taizhou also posted a strong recovery in consumption in the previous year. The city's retail sales of social consumption goods in 2021 amounted to 260.562 billion yuan, a jump of 8.7 percent year-on-year.

As two prime engines fueling local economic growth, investment in fixed assets and foreign trade also showed good performances.

In 2021, the city's investment in fixed assets achieved a year-on-year growth of 7.1 percent. Its foreign trade value rose 26.4 percent year-on-year to 239.936 billion yuan, with exports rising 24.8 percent to 219.709 billion yuan.

Stable increase was also seen in the financial sector. The balance of loans in Taizhou surged 18.2 percent to 1.167 trillion yuan, while the balance of deposits in the city amounted to 1.2 trillion yuan, up 13.4 percent.

The city's fiscal revenue increased 12.8 percent to over 77 billion yuan, while its general public budget expenditure was valued at 73.478 billion yaun, up 5 percent year-on-year.

The income gap between its urban and rural residents has narrowed further. The city's overall per capita disposable income increased by 9.6 percent to 55,499 yuan. Per capita disposable income of urban residents rose to 68,053 yuan, while the figure for rural residents was 35,419 yuan.
