Nineteen homestays in Taizhou were recently included in the grading system rolled out by Zhejiang for homestays, bringing the total number of such homestays in the city to 65.

In September 2017, Zhejiang unveiled a provincial grading system for homestays. Only those meeting certain standards, including a minimum scale of operations, can apply to be rated.

In the system, homestays are divided into three levels – platinum, gold and silver, with platinum being the highest level.

The 19 newly included homestays in Taizhou include four gold-level and 15 silver-level ones.

Taizhou is currently home to more than 1,000 homestays of various sizes, among which four are rated as platinum and 10 as gold.

These homestays are primarily located in Tiantai county, Xianju county and the county-level cities of Wenling and Linhai.
