The Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou high-speed railway line will open to traffic on Jan 8, the China State Railway Group Co Ltd recently announced.

The 266.9-kilometer railway line, which has a designed speed of 350 km/h, is among the first batch of public-private partnership pilot projects in China.

The route starts from Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, and passes through Shaoxing and Taizhou in the province. Its opening is expected to halve the travel time from Hangzhou to Taizhou to about one hour.

The railway, which connects the urban areas of Hangzhou with coastal cities, will also bolster the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

Passengers can book tickets starting from 12:00 on Jan 7. Additional information including time and train number can be obtained via 12306, China's official ticket booking platform.

The Taizhou Railway Station, the largest station on the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou high-speed railway line, will also be put into use after more than 500 days of construction.

The station will be connected with two municipal railway lines S1 and S2, making it the largest transportation hub in Taizhou.
