27 projects worth 36.1b yuan break ground in Taizhou

An online ceremony marking the start of construction of 27 investment projects with a combined value of 36.1 billion yuan ($5.55 billion) was held Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Jan 5.

These projects are mainly related to fields including infrastructure (22%), public services (15%) and industrial development (48%).

One of the most significant projects is a pump plant invested by Shimge Pump Industry (Zhejiang) Co Ltd.

With an investment of 3.22 billion yuan, the 780-mu (52 hectares) plant will specialize in the production, packaging and storage of pumps and its key parts.

The other important projects that started construction in Taizhou that day include a wind farm in the county-level city of Linhai in Taizhou and Xianju People's Hospital.

The offshore wind farm, with an investment of 5.2 billion yuan, will have a total installed capacity of 300,000 kilowatts.

It is also equipped with a 220 KV offshore booster station and a 200,000-kilowatt photovoltaic energy storage station. The amount of electricity generated by the farm annually is equivalent to the burning of 200,000 metric tons of coal.

Xianju People's Hospital, which was transformed from the Xianju Maternity & Childcare Hospital, will receive an investment of 1.69 billion yuan.

The hospital will add another 1,200 beds after completion.

Taizhou has emerged as a hotspot for investment in recent years. Official data shows that 243 investment projects with a combined value of 45 billion yuan broke ground in the city in 2020.
