Taizhou ranks 24th nationwide in tourism development

Taizhou in East China's Zhejiang province ranked 24th on the 2021 list of the most developed tourism cities on the Chinese mainland.

The list measures the development of tourism in cities at the prefecture-level and above on the Chinese mainland in terms of number of tourists, tourism revenue, the tourism sector's share of GDP, transportation convenience and tourism infrastructure.

Taizhou ranked 11th in the nation in terms of tourism infrastructure.

The data used were mainly from the National Bureau of Statistics, the National Tourism Administration and municipal tourism bureaus.

Estimates were used, as data for some cities was not made public.

Beijing topped the list, followed by Chongqing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Guiyang and Shangrao.

Zhejiang led the provinces with eight cities making the top 50, followed by Jiangsu (6), Guangdong (3), Shandong (3), Jiangxi (3) and Fujian (3).
