The medical device industry in Xianju county, Taizhou has been on the fast growth track. In just a few years, the number of medical device enterprises in Xianju has grown from zero to 40.

The robust growth of the industry can be partly attributed to efforts made by local authorities in spurring innovation and optimizing services.

In August, Xianju kicked off its annual contest, which is designed to attract global talents in the medical device sector to the county. The event, which is in its fourth edition this year, has been held in cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen, with nearly 400 entrants in total.

In addition to the competition, Xianju has implemented other measures, including setting up research organs by teaming up with prestigious university, to ramp up talent recruitment.

In June, Xianju opened a life sciences innovation center in Shanghai. The facility, which is the first of its kind set up by Xianju, will serve as a platform to channel investment and innovation resources to the county.

In addition, it has set up seven cooperative platforms by partnering with universities including Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University of Technology.

To date, nearly 70 high-profile professionals with a doctoral degree or above have been introduced to the county.

The excellent service available to enterprises has also played a big part in the industry's growth.

In 2019, the Taizhou Bay Innovative Medical Device Service Station was established. To date, it has helped companies solve 165 problems and offered training to over 1,200 people.

Xianju Medical Device Town is an industrial park accommodating medical device enterprises in Xianju, with a total area of 3.47 square kilometers. The innovation center in the town was rated as a municipal science and technology business incubator in August, the first one of its kind located in Xianju.
