A beer & music festival opened in Tahou village, Tiantai county, East China's Zhejiang province on July 4, local media reported.
The festival comes as part of local authorities' efforts to boost local rural tourism development.
Situated at the foot of Chicheng Mountain, Taihou boasts rich tourism resources. It is surrounded by numerous scenic spots in Tiantai including Guoqing Temple, Tiantai Mountain Cataract and Former Residence of Dao Ji.
Dao Ji was an eminent Zen monk who lived during the Southern Song Dynasty (420-479).
The village has won numerous honorary titles including the National Key Rural Tourism Village and the China Village of Poetry. According to historical records, numerous poets in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) visited the village where they created more than 85 poems.
Due to its advantageous location, Tahou village has in recent years emerged as a hit rural tourism destination.
The village is now home to more than 60 homestays. Visitors are able to savor an array of local cuisines prepared by local residents such as burritos, glutinous rice cake and homemade rice wine.
Visitors can also experience rural life by taking parting in farming activities like harvesting vegetables and fruits.
Irregular events ranging from concerts, bonfire parties to health maintenance-related lectures add a splash of color to their trip as well.
