A total of 300 million yuan ($46.15 million) will be allocated by the central government to support the marine ecology restoration project in Yuhuan, a county-level city in Taizhou, local media reported.

It is the second time that the city in East China's Zhejiang province has won the central government's financial support to proceed with marine ecology restoration.

In 2019, the nation granted the same amount of money to support the city's marine restoration in Taizhou Bay.

The project in Yuhuan, which is expected to cost 510 million yuan in total, plans to renovate and restore 7.45 kilometers of coastlines, 3 hectares of salt marshes, and 40 hectares of mangrove coastal wetlands.

A head official from the Taizhou municipal natural resources and planning bureau noted that the project's implementation will enhance the stability of the shorelines in the region and improve their ability to protect against natural disasters.
