The average life expectancy of household-registered residents in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province stood at 81.33 years in 2020, up 0.75 years from 2019 and 4.19 years from 2006, according to the Taizhou municipal health commission.

The figure is higher than the provincial average and is close to the level of developed countries and regions around the world.

In addition, the incidence of premature deaths from major chronic diseases decreased to 9.47 percent in Taizhou, indicating a notable increase in the city's capability to control and treat chronic diseases.
