Taizhou ranked fourth in China in terms of traffic conditions, according to a recently released report on transportation in China's major cities in 2021.

The report was released by Gaode Maps and organizations like the Big Data Development Department of the State Information Center of China, the Tsinghua University-Daimler Joint Research Center for Sustainable Transport, and the ITS Research Center of Tongji University.

The report adopted a traffic health index system, with indicators such as the proportion of congested sections of roadways during rush hours, to measure a city's general transportation conditions.

Taizhou's traffic health index stood at 68.69 percent last year, ranking fourth nationwide, behind only Nantong, Luoyang and Changzhou, and first in Zhejiang.

The local government's sustained efforts in alleviating traffic congestion have played a big part in the improvement.

In 2021, the city constructed 15.2 kilometers of roads, 52.4 kilometers of railways, and over 21,234 parking spots.

A parking app has also been launched in Taizhou, through which drivers can pinpoint the nearest parking lots and pay the parking fees online.
