The Jinhua-Taizhou Railway started a trial operation test on Jan 27, according to local media reports.

The test came after the line was successfully connected to the power grid a day before, according to the management of the railway's construction undertaker.

It will comprehensively test the railway’s functions, including power supply, signals, and communications.

The railway will be put into operation after passing the test, which is expected to run after the Spring Festival holiday, said Cai Zhengxiang, an assistant engineer at China Railway Signal & Communication Co Ltd.

With a designed speed of 160 km/h, the Jinhua-Taizhou Railway is the first electric railway independently constructed by Zhejiang province. It has a total investment of roughly 16 billion yuan ($2.46 billion).

It will be connected with the Shanghai-Kunming Railway and the coastal railway lines for passengers, which will promote the integrated development of the cities located in the middle of Zhejiang, as well as the Yangtze River Delta region as a whole.
