Dachen Island Scenic Spot and Tiantai Mountain Cataract in Taizhou were officially designated national 4A scenic spots, the second highest level in the nation's grading system for scenic attractions.

Located 29 kilometers from the Haimen port in Jiaojiang district, Dachen Island is comprised of 29 small islets and 83 reefs. It occupies a total area of 14.6 square kilometers.

The island, which is dubbed "a pearl of the East China Sea", is especially attractive from February to April, when clouds curl from the sea to the mountains.

Tiantai Mountain Cataract, which is also known as Sanjing waterfall, has a maximum width of 90 meters and drops 325 meters. Interestingly-shaped cliffs and rocks in the nearby Qiongtai Xiangu Scenic Area are also worth a visit.
