The 2020 China (Taizhou) International Packaging and Printing Expo opened in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 23, according to local media reports.

It is the first time that Taizhou has hosted a packaging and printing expo of this scale, attracting more than 150 equipment suppliers from across the country.

The event, slated to run until Sept 25, set up over 400 booths divided into nine sections with different themes ranging from carton, printing to digital packaging.

Taizhou's packaging and printing industry has been flourishing since the 1980s. Official data show that there are more than 400 printing enterprises in Xinqiao town and Hengjie town in the city's Luqiao district, with an annual output exceeding 4 billion yuan ($579.71 million).

Han Long, president of the Taizhou Printing Industry Association, said that the fair showcased a large variety of internationally competitive packaging and printing equipment, which provided a rare opportunity for local manufacturers to learn something new.

Liu Haiqiang, general manager of Taizhou Haixing Printing Materials Co Ltd, the exhibition's organizer, said an increasing number of enterprises have realized the significance of intelligent production in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic and that numerous technologies displayed at the expo can help enterprises reduce manpower and improve production efficiency.
