The Xunxi Digital Factory, a smart apparel factory developed by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, recently debuted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

The factory has received equipment and technical support from three enterprises in Jiaojiang district of Taizhou, a national manufacturing hub for sewing machines.

Its cutting and cloth-laying equipment is provided by a subsidiary of Jack Sewing Machine Co Ltd, which is the result of a merger between two Germany companies – Bullmer and Topcut, acquired by Jack in 2009.

Jack Sewing Machine, founded in 2003, is dedicated to the R&D, manufacturing and sale of sewing machines and was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2017.

The factory's intelligent hanger system is developed by Ina Intelligent Technology (Zhejiang) Co Ltd. Established in Taizhou in 2004, the joint-venture company specializes in the R&D, production and sale of intelligent hanger systems and intelligent logistics and storage systems.

Meanwhile, Zhejiang Juita Sewing Machine Co Ltd, also based in Taizhou, is the factory's supplier of auto template sewing machines.

Founded in 2001, Juita is a national high-tech enterprise focusing on the design, production and sale of industrial sewing machines. The company's template sewing machines are internationally competitive.

Official data show the global annual output of sewing equipment is more than 10 million units, of which more than 90 percent are produced in China, and more than 70 percent are produced in Jiaojiang.

Currently, the district is home to more than 400 sewing machine manufacturing enterprises and 140-plus supporting enterprises with a total annual output value of 10 billion yuan ($1.45 billion).
