Three county-level cities in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, made the list of the top 100 counties in China, according to a report released at an online forum on the innovative economic development of Chinese counties held on July 28.

The report was compiled by CCID Consulting, a firm affiliated with a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and involved 1,879 county-level administrative regions in China.

The report states that among the top 100 counties, 33 had GDPs exceeding 100 billion yuan ($14.28 billion), three more than last year.

In 2019, the overall GDP per capita among these counties reached 110,900 yuan, far higher than the national average and on the same level as high-income countries.

The per capita income among residents of the top 100 counties totaled 38,700 yuan, with urban residents having a an average income of 48,000 yuan and rural residents having an average income of 25,400 yuan last year. These figures are 26 percent, 13 percent, and 59 percent higher than the national average, respectively.

Wenling city (25th)

Wenling has a land area of 926 square kilometers, a sea area of 1,079 sq km, a beach area of 155 sq km, 170 islands, and 317-km of coastline.

The city is known as the "land of fish and rice", as well as the "kingdom of shrimp".

Yuhuan city (70th)

Yuhuan covers an area of 405.5 sq km and governs three sub-districts, six towns, and two townships. It has a permanent resident population of 722,000.

In 2019, its regional GDP totaled 61.75 billion yuan and its general financial revenue reached 8.74 billion yuan.

Linhai city (83rd)

Linhai is surrounded on three sides by green hills and is located near the sea. It has a land area of 2,203 sq km and a sea area of 1,590 sq km.

The city governs five sub-districts and 14 towns with a total population of 12 million.
