Xianju, a county in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, dispatched supplies worth 220,000 yuan ($31,000) to Mangya city in Northwest China's Qianghai province on July 25, local media reported.

These supplies include winter clothes, woollen sweaters, and winter footwear, which are collected by the Caring Association for the Elderly in Xianju.

The association was the first volunteer organization in the county. In recent years, it has not only served elderly and poverty-stricken locals, but also helped Wangcang county in Sichuan province eliminate poverty.

In June, the association launched a proposal to make a donation to poverty-stricken herders in Mangya.

Guo Xiaoyong, general manager of Yibo Textile Co Ltd, contacted Chen Xianglin, chairman of the Caring Association for the Elderly, to donate 9,900 yuan worth of winter clothes after learning about the proposal.

Xiang Weiwei, a member of the association who owned a printing and dyeing company in Jiaxing, purchased 21,600 yuan worth of woollen sweaters for Mangya herders.

"In October last year, we raised 210,000 yuan worth of supplies for low-income families in Wangcang," said Zhao Aiwei, standing vice-chairman of the association, adding that they just want to do something meaningful for the poor people living in the bitterly cold Mangya. Zhao herself donated 90,000 yuan worth of clothes.
