Taizhou, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, saw 46.26 billion yuan ($6.61 billion) in investment in the first five months of this year, a 7.1 percent year-on-year increase, Taizhou Daily reported on July 14.

The city has ranked first in Zhejiang 14 months in a row in terms of its private investment growth rate. The increase from Jan-May was 7.1 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

The rapid increase of private investment in Taizhou can be largely attributed to efforts made by the local government.

A total of 87 industrial projects with a total investment of 103.89 billion yuan will be carried out in Taizhou this year.

The Taizhou government has also been helping private investors take part in major projects. There is currently a total of 72 major projects in the city, which have attracted 216 billion yuan in private investment.
