A total of 26 scenic attractions in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province will continue to stay open to local residents free of charge in 2021, local authorities said.

The city initiated a campaign that exempts local residents from admission fees to scenic spots in May 2018, and the policy has since benefited 6.35 million people to date.

The decision of extending the policy's validity was passed at the sixth session of the fifth Taizhou Municipal People's conference on Feb 5. 

Local residents are able to tour the 26 State-run scenic spots, including Shenxianju, free of charge throughout the year except during national holidays, weekends, and major festivals.

Shenxainju is a national 5A scenic spot, China's top classification for tourist destinations, in Xianju county, Taizhou. Shenxianju, which literally means "dwelling for immortals", features an intact ecosystem and geologic structure.

The policy is also applicable to non-locals holding local residency permits.

Both locals and non-locals have to make a reservation online ahead of time via the taizhou519 WeChat account.

Despite being exempt from admission fees, visitors will still be charged for cable cars, travel guides, parking, as well as other leisure and entertainment services they use during their visit to these scenic spots.
