Visitors to Linhai, a county-level city in Taizhou, are encouraged to explore the city over the course of two days.

Their first stop should be the Ancient City of the Taizhou Cultural Scenic Area, which is located in the city’s urban area.

The scenic area covers a total area of 3.12 square kilometers and consists of scenic spots such as the City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou, Ziyang Street, East Lake, and Jinshan Hill.

The Southern Great Wall

The City Wall of the Ancient City of Taizhou, also known as "the Southern Great Wall", is about 5,000 meters in length. It was listed as a relic under state protection in 2001 and as a China World Cultural Heritage item in 2012.

Ziyang Street

Extending 1,080 meters, Ziyang Street is one of the most well-preserved historical blocks in China. In 2012, it was named a "Famous Chinese Historical and Cultural Street" by the Ministry of Culture and the State Bureau of Cultural Relics.

Yongquan town comes as the second stop for visitors.

Yongquan is a historical and cultural town located 22 kilometers southeast of Linhai city. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and bordered by the Lingjiang River.

Legend has it that during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, there was an ancient well on Tianzhu Mountain near the town that provided an endless supply of spring water.

This is where the town got the name Yongquan, which literally means "gush of spring" in Chinese.

The town is mostly famous for producing seedless tangerines, and it has been dubbed the "home of seedless tangerines in China".

Tangerine blossoms

Tangerine blossoms can now be seen throughout 40,000 mu (2,666.67 hectares) of orchards in the town.

Yan'en Temple

Yan'en Temple, which sits at the foot of Tianzhu Mountain, was originally built in the Western Jin Dynasty and has a history of 1,700 years.

The temple houses numerous old trees with a history of more than 100 years.

Guanyin Tower offers a great panoramic view of the temple.

Lantian Mountain

Lantian Mountain, located in northern Yongquan town, has an altitude of more than 680 meters.

The temperature at the peak of the mountain is 6-8 degrees centigrade cooler than at the bottom, making it a great place to escape the summer heat.

The mountain is home to numerous attractions, including old stone houses, terraced fields, and waterfalls. It has been dubbed the "Shangri-la of Taizhou".
