The Taizhou Enze Medical Center, Taizhou's designated hospital for treating COVID-19 patients, recently shared its anti-virus experiences with the Union Hospital of Ancona University in Italy via a remote video conference.

The coronavirus pandemic had claimed 10,023 lives in locked-down Italy as of March 28.

Ancona is located on the west coast of Italy and is capital of the Marche region.

The Union Hospital of Ancona University, which houses 950 beds, has thus far admitted over 200 coronavirus patients, including more than 40 in critical condition, according to Michele Caporossi, president of the hospital.

During the video conference, which lasted about an hour, medics from the Taizhou Enze Medical Center answered numerous questions from their Italian counterparts related to the incubation period of the virus and the treatment of critically ill patients.

The two medical institutions began a partnership in September 2019.

Since 2014, the Taizhou Enze Medical Center has been sending medical workers to study in Italy. Some medics on the frontlines of the anti-virus battle in Taizhou and Wuhan had even studied at the Union Hospital of Ancona University.

On March 24, a total of 27 boxes of medical supplies donated by the Taizhou Enze Medical Center were sent to the hospital in Italy. The supplies included surgical masks, protective clothing, goggles, medical gloves, and visual laryngoscopes.

Caporossi said the exchange of experiences in fighting the epidemic has been helpful in carrying out medical treatment and thanked Enze for the donations.

He also expressed hope for an early victory over the epidemic and said he looked forward to meeting with his Chinese counterparts in Italy.

The Union Hospital of Ancona University is the largest university hospital in the Marche region and one of best hospitals in Europe for treating seriously ill infants and pulmonary diseases.
