The tourism sector, which has been hit the hardest by the epidemic, has been exploring ways to survive the crisis.

Multiple travel agencies in Taizhou have temporarily shifted focus to other fields.

Zhejiang Huading International Travel Agency turned its online travel platform into an online agriculture store.

The company's original tourism products have been replaced by a wide variety of local specialties. The move has not only helped local farmers sell more products, but also generated income for other workers.

From procurement to delivery, the entire process is carried out by employees from the travel agency, said Chen Lijuan, general manager of the travel agency, adding that an employee can earn as much as 300 yuan ($44.7) per day.

Huading is not the only travel agency to do this.

Zhejiang Business International Travel Services has established partnerships with manufacturing enterprises to sell anti-epidemic supplies and sanitary products online.

"The epidemic pushed us to find new ways of doing business," said Zhang Zhihan, head of the travel agency, adding that they will continue to expand their e-commerce presence while tapping into new opportunities in the rehabilitation sector as tourism gradually recovers.

Meanwhile, hotels have also made some attempts to minimize losses.

The Taihe Tianyuan Hotel in Tiantai county launched food take-out services and encouraged its chefs to promote dishes via live broadcasting on social media platforms like Douyin and Red Book.

"The response is good," said Wu Zijie, a staff at the hotel's marketing communications department, adding that one of the videos garnered over 2,500 views.

The hotel resumed on-site catering services on March 8.

In response to the epidemic, the city's tourist attractions have also come up with measures to attract tourists

Shenxianju, a national 5A scenic spot–China's top classification for tourist destinations–reopened on Feb 20 and announced that visitors are exempt from entrance fees until the end of April and are offering outside visitors free shuttle services.

Meanwhile, it is also taking time to promote renovation.

Renovation on its Nantianqiao cableway is expected to be completed in the first half of this year.

The capacity of the new cableway will increase to 2,400 people per hour, much higher than before.
