Construction began on a total of 12 projects worth 12 billion yuan ($1.79 billion) in Yuhuan, a county-level city in Taizhou on July 8, local media reported.

Among them is the Yuhuan financial center. With an investment of 1.05 billion yuan, the building covering an area of 51 mu (3.4 hectares) is expected to be a new landmark of the city.

An offline wind farm invested by China Huadian Corp occupies 37 square kilometers. At a cost of 5.057 billion yuan, the project shall play an important role in ensuring Huhuan's energy supply security, optimizing energy structure and promoting local economic development.

Official data shows that from January to June, Yuhuan's fixed asset investment growth rate is predicated to stand at 9.5 percent.

The same day also witnessed the signing of 18 projects with accumulative value of 26.78 billion yuan.

The projects include the Haishan international tourism island, Wanda plaza, Hongguangmeichuang electronic industrial park, Longzhong industrial park and Aerospace industrial park.
