As a well preserved ancient street in Zhejiang province, Shili Street in Luqiao is known for its traditional water-street-integrated layout, historical relics and a number of townscapes typical of the region south of the Yangtze River. Running north to south from Luqiaohexi Street to Lunanshiqu Street, the five-kilometer riverside street, with rich cultural landscapes and heritages, epitomizes rapid economic development in Luqiao. Luqiao’s history as a commercial port dates from the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), when commodities were traded there and to other cities as population grew and business boomed. Shili Street is dotted with historical and cultural relics, such as temples, pavilions, towers, civilian residences and aged bridges.
